Crowns
A dental crown is a tooth-shaped restoration, also referred to as a “cap”, which is placed over a tooth to restore its shape, size and strength. Crowns can also be used to improve the appearance of one’s teeth. A crown may be needed for many reasons including:
- Protecting a weak tooth from breaking,
- To hold together parts of a cracked tooth,
- Restore an already broken tooth or a tooth that is severely worn down,
- To cover and support a tooth with a large filling and a small amount of remaining tooth structure,
- To cover misshaped or severely discolored teeth.
At Kimberly Smiles, crowns are a one-appointment procedure. While you wait we use CEREC, an in-office CAD/CAM to create your restoration on-site in about 15 minutes. It is then fitted, polished and bonded for performance. Your tooth is restored back to its natural form, function and beauty all in one appointment.
